A Word From the Editor's Desk
Long serving Bluebell Railway volunteers will recall the late Handel Kardas editing Flying Pig an unofficial newsletter circulated to working volunteers. It acted as a safety valve for members frustrated by the management ( at the time there was a bad case of 'my railway syndrome' in the society management).
Now we have recreated Flying Pig , again to act as a safety valve for members. It is edited ( and moderated to exclude the more outrageous rants of some of the volunteers) by me. I joined Bluebell back in 1968 but fell out with Horace May, the General Manager, and left after one summer. I returned in 1986 to run the Bulleid shop and over the following twenty years held various positions on the railway including Foreman Santa, General Secretary and Press Officer ( though not all at the same time).
